After 12 days of intensive community development programs in Kenya, the visiting team of BAYLOR University students finally departed Nairobi for Waco Texas on Saturday night via Dubai. The team of 46 athletes from BAYLOR in Texas USA had a fruitful sports tour of Kenya and have vowed to make a comeback next year.

This year’s visit was the third consecutive trip for the sportsmen and women to Kenya with their leader Wes Yeary foreseeing a long lasting relationship between the University sports teams and Kenya.

“This was the first time we were bringing a large sports team and we have been amazed at the hospitality we have received from all the people we interacted with. The students have enjoyed themselves and had a fabulous time with most of them promising to come back next year. We look forward to continue with the bond we have established with Kenya for the benefit of both the Kenyan community and us from Baylor. The trip was amazing and God just opened more doors for us to meet more wonderful people.” He said.

The team jetted in to Nairobi on Monday 16th May and have been engaged in several community and sports development projects including: Soccer, basketball, volleyball and American football clinics, friendly matches, visits to Langata and Nairobi West prison to spend time with the inmates, holding soccer clinics with street kids, visiting a number of childrens’ homes, building a community resource center in Mukuru slums and a visit to Murang’a to lay concrete floors for jigger infested families amongst many other developing activities.

“It was a fun trip, it ended so fast and we can’t wait to come back next year. I had a lot of fun helping out where I could and I thank God for all the people we met and the kids we shared with. This will remain forever engraved in my mind.” Said Lindsay Palmer a basketball player.

The team is expected to arrive in Waco Texas USA on Sunday evening.
