Five female boxers bundled out in Olympic qualifiers

The Kenyan boxing jinx witnessed during the Casablanca Morocco Olympic qualifier when five men pugilists were boxed out hit again but this time it to the female counterparts.Five of the six participants were eliminated in the first round of the Olympic qualifiers in China.

On Sunday flyweight Christine Ongare, Bantam Weight Ruth Odongo and welterweight Dury Wanjiku all suffered first round elimination after losing their respective bouts to quash any hopes of making it to London.

Kenya’s best featherweight boxer Rebah Matanda was eliminated by veteran Japanese national champion Nana Yoshikwa, who won 22-10 on Friday.

The last two rounds were closer as Matanda scored three against her opponents five before the Japanese wrapped it up 4-3.

On Monday the remaining boxer Elizabeth Andiego will fight it out with Norwergian Lien Lotte.
